Go to Rank My WP > Research > Find Keywords from your WordPress Dashboard.

Rank My WP advanced algorithms will reveal top keyword opportunities and feed valuable associated data. This up-to-date information will help you assess keywords’ potential; so that you can pick the right ones:

  • Discussion. Shows you how popular a topic is on social media.
  • Search Volume. Allows you to know what Keywords and Topics your Customers actively search for on Google.
  • Competition. Tells you whether you can rank your pages for specific keywords. You’ll STOP Wasting your resources creating content blindly and going after keywords your site can’t rank for. It will all finally make sense.

Find New Keywords

Access Find Keyword

Go to Rank My WP > Research > Find Keywords from your WordPress Dashboard.


The Keyword Research Tool will give you lists of suggested Key Phrases made out of 2 to 5 words. This way, you can focus on the specific phrases people are actually searching for on Google.

It will also give you an advantage in ranking on the first page. These keywords are selected based on what the top 10 sites for your topic are also optimizing for.

Step 1. Enter a keyword that matches your business

To find the best long-tail keywords, first you need to enter the keyword you would want people to find you for.

Multiple Keywords

Choosing the first keyword or the starting keyword is very important. The keyword should contain 2-3 words and should contain words for who you like the visitors to find your website on TOP 10 Google.

Very often, the words are already used by your competition and if you are at the beginning of your online business or if your website is new, you should find keywords that people search on Google and for who you have a chance to be listed on Google and other search engines.

If you have an e-commerce website, you can search for the product name but you can also create a strategy based on compared products, product reviews, unboxing, product promotions and more.

If you want to start the research with multiple keywords, just add the keywords separated with a comma.
e.g. cat food, dog food

Let’s take for example the keyword “cat food“.

Step 2. Focus on Your Country’s Audience

You can research keywords for each article by focusing on the countries you are interested in. You now have over 130 Countries to choose from.

This way, you can choose the best words to optimize for so that more people from your country will find you.

Step 3. Select similar keywords

To have a targeted keyword research for your country you need to select other keywords suggested by Google and Bing.

After you select other keywords that you want to research, click the Do Research button.

Step 4. Discover amazing long-tail keywords

The research may take a while until the results are shown. The process is made in real time so that you get fresh information for each keyword.

Every selected keyword will pass through an algorithm which will run over 100 queries on it and on the related keywords found. It will check the competitionsocial discussionsearch volume and the last 90 days trending.

The research is made for 10-15 results so that the waiting time to be shorter. If you need deeper research you can click on Do a complex research button to get up to 50 keywords.

The default keywords order is made by our system based on the ranking score. Even if a keyword is easy to rank for, if people are not searching for it, you probably shouldn’t use it for your SEO Strategy.


Keyword Briefcase

How many times has this happened to you? You’ve started researching ideas for keywords you could use in your posts. After a while, the process became so complex, that you lost count and forgot what was the keyword you began with.

It would be a pity to overlook great keyword opportunities because you don’t have an efficient way to stay organized.

The Briefcase feature provides a simple way to keep your best keyword opportunities in a dedicated, single place and build a strategy around your main keywords.


Access Briefcase

Go to Rank My WP > Research > Briefcase from your WordPress Dashboard.


Add keywords in Briefcase

To add a keyword in briefcase, just click Add to Briefcase from the Keyword Research results.

Once you added keywords in Briefcase you can go to Briefcase and see all the saved keywords.


Assign Labels to keywords

If you didn’t add any Label yet you need to go to Labels section and create a the labels for your strategy.

To assign a Label to a keyword from Briefcase just click on the menu icon from the keyword row and select Assign Label.

Select one or multiple labels for the selected keyword and click Save Labels button.

For every keyword in Briefcase you can see in how many posts were optimized for this keywordif the keyword is indexed in Google and the keyword research info.


Copy Keyword For Optimization

You can copy each keyword you want to use for article optimization in Clipboard. Once the keyword is saved, create a new Post and paste the keyword in Title and the post content and start the optimization.

Note! For Optimization Assistant or Live Assistant, you can use the free plugin Squirrly SEO.

To copy the keyword, click on the menu icon from the keyword row and click on Copy Keyword.


Send to Google Rankings

To see if your website ranked for a keyword you need to send the keyword to Google Rankings. For this, click on the menu icon from the keyword row and select Send to Rankings.


Refresh Keyword Research

Over time a keyword could have different research results. It’s important to know if a keyword is still trending or if its search volume changed.

To refresh the research for a keyword, click on the menu icon from the keyword row and select Refresh Research.


Delete a keyword from Briefcase

If you don’t use the keyword in your strategy anymore you can delete the keyword from Briefcase.

Do I lose the optimizations made with this keyword?

By deleting a keyword from Briefcase you are NOT losing the optimization info for the articles in which you used the keyword.

To delete a keyword, click on the menu icon from the keyword row and select Delete Keyword.

If you deleted the keyword by accident, you can do a new Keyword Research for it, add it to Briefcase and all the assign labels will be restored.


Backup and Restore Keywords

We encourage you to backup the keywords from Briefcase periodically to make sure you can restore them in case you work with a team of writers and they have access to manage the keywords in Briefcase.

This feature is also useful if you want to copy the Briefcase Keywords to another website or when you change your website.

To backup the Keywords simply click on Download Keywords button and Rank My WP will create a CSV file with all the Keywords.

The keywords CSV will look like this:

To restore the Keywords just click on Import Keywords button and select the CSV file from your backup.


Import Keywords in Briefcase

If you don’t want to do Keyword Research for your keywords, You can import the Keywords in Briefcase directly. For this, you need to create your own CSV list of Keywords separated by ; or a TXT file with every keyword in a new row.

Click the Import Keywords button, select the file from your computer and click the Upload button. If the list of keywords is correct you will see all your keywords in the Briefcase.

If you want to import a text file with the keyword, create a new text file and add the keywords like in the image below.


Briefcase Labels

You can Color-Categorize your keywords based on your needs and stay on track with your campaigns.

For instance, you can label them based on the customer journey you want to use them for, such as “awareness stage” or “strong buyer intent.”

Everyone on your team will know what they need to work on in order to enhance your Authority on your main keywords. No more losing focus.


Access Briefcase Labels

Go to Rank My WP > Research > Labels from your WordPress Dashboard.


Add new Label

To add a new Label in your label list, click on the Add new Label button.

In the Label popup window add the Label name and choose the Label color and click on Add Label button.


Edit a Label

Use this option in case you gave a wrong name for your Label or change your Strategy for your keywords.

To edit a Label Name, click the menu icon from the Label row and select Edit Label.


Delete a Label

Will delete the assigned keywords too?

By deleting a Label you will NOT lose the keywords assigned to it.

If you want to completely delete a Label, click the menu icon from the Label row and select Delete Label.

Checking the Keyword Research evolution over time is very important. Keywords can trend differently from week to week and finding the right time to use them in your articles is crucial for your success.

Add Keywords to Briefcase from Keyword Research History

To add a keyword in briefcase, just click Add to Briefcase from the Keywords History list.

Use Keywords to SEO from Keyword Research History

To use a keyword to optimize a post, just click Copy Keyword from the Keywords History list.
